Course Descriptions: Code Composer Studio™ (CCS or CCStudio) is the integrated development environment for TI's DSPs, microcontrollers and application processors. CCStudio includes a suite of tools used to develop and debug embedded applications. It includes compilers for each of TI's device families, source code editor, project build environment, debugger, profiler, simulators and many other features. CCStudio provides a single user interface taking users through each step of the application development flow. Familiar tools and interfaces allow users to get started faster than ever before and add functionality to their application thanks to sophisticated productivity tools. Texas Instrument’s Code Composer StudioTM (CCS) is a user-friendly, Windows-based debugger for developing and debugging software for the TMS320C5416. It allows users to write and debug code in C or in TI assembly language.
In view of cost effectiveness, power efficiency computational efficiency of the fixed point DSP processors, this course provides complete understanding of architectural features and programming concepts of TMS320C5416 DSP processor. TMS320C5416 processor being a fixed point processor, this course covers the fixed point data representation, fixed point arithmetic and fixed point C programming skills. The Digital Signal Processing algorithms used in wide range of applications have molded the Digital Signal Processor architecture thus bringing out a new class of high speed processors that are both power efficient and cost effective. TMS320 is a blanket name for a series of Digital Signal Processors from Texas Instruments. TI’s TMS320C54x Processor is one of the powerful DSP processors based on which many technological products were built and entered in the consumer electronics market. Since this processor has introduced many architectural features that revolutionized the DSP industry, it is also considered as one of the best case studies to understand complex DSP architectural features. The key components of this course are as follows:
Objectives of the course: This course provides introduction to TI’s development tool, Code Composer Studio(CCS).Upon the completion of the course, the participants will also gain a comprehensive understanding of fixed point data representation and arithmetic concepts, TMS320C5416 DSP’s architectural features, DSP programming using fixed point C and ASM and also it imparts the ability to design and simulate DSP based systems with TI’s TMS320C5416 as the target processor and using CCS 3.1.
